I've removed the card, but there's nothing to clean really. It looks brand new still. The 50-pin connector seemed tightly fit too. Are you using compressed air to clean this kind of equipment?

Only cost $270 to get it fixed.
Checked the price to get the card serviced, and it's $685!

If it is a closed-side rack, it may have overheated. 192's need lots of side ventilation. It vents from right to left as viewed from the front of the unit.

You may want to re-evaluate your air flow to prevent this from happening again.
I'm thinking about simply drilling some holes in both sides of the rack. I'm taking the El Cheapo route. Thoughts? Should be sufficient, right?

Hi,

Yes you can get cans of compressed air to clean computers etc.

Also wipe the contacts with some switch cleaner and lubricant.

If you have an electronics expert near you its worth getting them to check the power supply!

Furthermore, the warranty I get if I cough up $685 to get the card serviced is 3 months! What on earth is up with that?! Is it the same all over the world?

Hello,
I just sent in my AD card last week to AVID for repair. The repair cost was $270 and the turnaround time (including shipping) was 6 days.

Call the repair line, press no. 3 for "checking an existing RA number/repair - and speak to someone. They will set you up w/ an RA number and charge you 270. Then ship it to Mountain View, CA.

I hope this helps...

Hey PT Lover,
My apologies - (Upon re-reading your posts) - I just noticed that you are located in Norway. Perhaps, it still may be cheaper to ship it to CA though?

Best of luck..

I've seen this several times and always do an AR (Advanced Replacement) - DTS sends a card overnight and I install and send back the defective card. I don't remember it being even as much as $270 - but it's the best way to not separate with the unit to keep from downtime.

Ask about Advanced Replacement - Norway or US or Uzbekistan
