One note suddenly silent on Inst track
Hi,
I have a bad feeling I have somehow accidentally assigned some other control to a key on my midi keyboard. Just recently, this one key is silent. Rest of the keyboard playing through midi as normal. When I open Midi Editor view and click this key with the mouse, it plays fine. Weird. Thus, I must have assigned it do something else, rather than play. Any ideas how to get it back to simply being just another key on the keyboard, please? Sorry, I feel such an idiot! Cheers. |

Re: One note suddenly silent on Inst track
What VI are you using? have you tried another VI, like Mini Grand?
You can also check what exact MIDI code is being sent by that key, it may not be the same as you think in the GUI (OTOH if you are clicking what was recorded it should be...). What does the velocity data for that note show? |

Re: One note suddenly silent on Inst track
Thanks. I've tried various VIs, and same silence on all.
Sorry, but how do I go about finding out the velocity data? |

Re: One note suddenly silent on Inst track
OK, I found out how to do that.
When I click on the note with mouse, normal velocity as expected. When I play with that key, zilch |

Re: One note suddenly silent on Inst track
Sounds like a broken key switch

Re: One note suddenly silent on Inst track
Before you go too far - why not try MIDI monitor software? There are free utilities out there that help; snoize on a Mac and MIDI-OX on Windows. They are good for not only tracking down you're problem but a whole bunch of things related to MIDI. I've used both and once you get them figured out they're indispensible.
