PT Ultimate : from 2019.5 to 2020 video engine won't launch
Hello,
Because of work I was stuck on PT Ultimate 2019.5. Now I try to install PT ultimate 2020, but each times the video engine won't launch. I have to go back to 2019.5. No video engine problems with this version. I tried to install 2020.5, 2020.9.1 and 2020.11. But it was the same. During the launch of PT the video engine crashes and after impossible to enable him. Each time I first intall the correponding HD Driver and after Pro Tools. But without success. Any ideas to help me ? Details of my system are in my signature and up to date.

Do you think I have to install all the version, one after the other ? In almost 20 years of Pro Tools it will be the first time… It's already the first time I have a video engine error like this…

Ok. The last solution I left with seems to be a clean install of the OS, and maybe update my MacPro 5.1 to Mojave with a metal compatible gpu…

try deleting this folder:
users/shared/AvidVideoEngine

Thanks StephB. I tried but unfortunately no change.
Here is the message (in french) from ProTools. Each time it's the same message, here I tried directly with 2020.11

Thanks K Roche, indeed it could be the reason. And your system is close to mine. In any case I'll have to change the GPU one day…
Does anybody have a similar system to mine under Sierra or High Sierra and can run Pro Tools 2020 ?

No, not under Sierra, Sierra is not compatible with PT 2020.
