Default blue timeline arrow misbehaving - badly!

blue timeline arrow misbehaving - badly!

i have several (i assume) graphics issues that all appear when i open up an insert like DB-33, Grand Piano or expand!2.......

-When an instrument graphic like the virtual hammond thing opens up it looks like a new screen appears over the top of the normal one. Everything in the new screen moves downward and leftward about ten pixels, leaving the old screen with its now non-functional normal menu in place and behind the new one.

-The text is too large in the titles on top of the "Edit:" and "Mix:" windows (not that big of a deal)

-The up and down and left and right sliders on the lower and right sides of the screen will move things around on the screen like normal but when you let go of the slider it snaps back to the original position. (a pain in the ass but i get around it by using the arrows)

-Ya know the row of menu selections at the top of the screen? File, Edit, View, Track etc... Well a new row of selections appears just below the normal ones. Their font size is too big to fit so you can barely read them. The normal ones are rendered inactive and you have to use the new row to make menu selections. (a little dorky, but the selections still works)

Compared to problems like over population, global warming or Taylor Swift's belly button issues these are miniscule, but here is a problem that is hard to live with......

-When I try to pull the two halves of the downward facing blue time arrow apart to do a punch in/out, they jump all over the place, like 40 measures even. The two little flags do the same thing. This means that punching in and out is im-f***ing-possible. This requires me to be talented enough to do a take with no mistakes!

i have a Dell M6700 laptop. i know laptops especially non-apple ones are poohpoohed here, but hey it's what i got. In said Dell there is a nVIDIA Quadro K3000M graphics card. In the Pro Tools requirements they specify nVIDIA Quadro 2000 and/or 4000 (at least for Pro Tools 10 (where did the requirements for Pro Tools 11 go to anyway?)) They don't mention 3000. Is that a problem? Also the K3000M is the new and improved version of the older Quadro 3000. Is the Quadro K3000M too good for Pro Tools 11? That couldn't be! Could it? NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!

i had a previous post about graphics issues and in that one i was advised to reload my graphics driver. i haven't done that yet. One reason is a little touch of techno-retardation/phobia/laziness on my part, and the other is wondering if this K3000M thing is going to work in the first place.

Any suggestions anyone? If i upgrade to the latest Pro Tools or Air Creative Collection will that help? Do i need to get a clunky old 3000 or a 2000 or a 4000 and try to install it myself? (i hope that is not recommened)

Default Re: blue timeline arrow misbehaving - badly!

Issue solved!

I had the setting for font size too large in control panel.

control panel/fonts/change font size/medium (or smaller if your eyes are up to it)

I had it set to "larger".
