Default 003 PT 9 and 6086 errors

Hey guys, I have both TDM/192io and a 003. The TDM engine seems to run without hiccups. Then I plugged in my 003 opened the same session (small one) and the 6086 hit errors after only a second or 2 of playback. Also runs standalone fine also so it's gotta be a 003 thing. Installed the new drivers. It's on a Mac Pro 1,1. I have waves, mcdsp, and uad plugs if that makes a difference, but seeing as it ran on the other 2 engines it's 003 specific?

I'm having the same issue, and have definitely installed the latest drivers. Admittedly I did download/install the drivers after installing the upgrade last night.

Running standalone I get the -6101 error, and plugged into my 003 I'm getting -6086. This is on a super simple (7 audio tracks) session. Watching the resources within PT, I can see adding two pretty 'simple' plugins (such as Sansamp) are putting me at about 50% RTAS CPU, which seems a bit excessive also.

I've just been contacted by Avid instructing me to do a full un-install of PT9 and do the full install.. but I'm hoping there's another solution as I'm not that excited about downloading another massive file! Not to mention, finding all the installers for my plugs again :/

Hopefully though this is resolvable and not a resource issue in PT9.. I don't have a super current MBP, but I've been really happy with how PT8 was running performance-wise.

hey

I'm using the 003 Factory and I bought PT9 on Tuesday and spent time having fun setting up as many busses as I could, and also making templates with some more audio tracks.
I have some sessions with about 30 tracks, and opened 1 in Pro Tools 9 yesterday and it didn't give me any errors.
Enabled ADC and I was working on the session for about 2 hours and playing around with new stuff, and didn't have any problems.

How about deleting Databases and Preferences?
Previous times Pro Tools did some funny things with me it seemed to help.
I deleted all Databases and preferences and afterwards repaired permissions in disk utility and verified disk just to be sure everything is all good.

It was minor things, but it definitely helped.

Not too sure it would help, but it would've been the first thing I would try...

I tried all the recommended OSX 'optimisation' tips from Avid.. but now PT9 won't start at all

It seems all roads are leading to a PT un-install, install drivers and full re-install of PT9.. hopefully it's finished downloading in the last 24 hours so I can try it when I get home.

When you say it 'won't start at all' - what happens, exactly?

It would just give an OSX error "PT9 has closed unexpectedly.", or similar at some point during the splash screen initialisation. Interestingly, that was a plugin error it seems, rather than a PT program issue per se.

I moved all the plugins from the library/digidesign/plugins folder (the other install would now start, but of course no plugins), used the Uninstall Pro Tools tool, selecting the Clean Uninstall option, re-installed the new drivers and used the clean PT9 install and it seems to be working much smoother.

Still find a few things a bit funny (like some plugins seem more inefficient than before, and if you have a UAD mobile device but its not turned on, any sessions you open with those plugins will put you in an endless 'click OK' on an error loop.

"Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/ws.Preston/AlturaPorts/PT4_App/MacBuild../StudioMgr/SMgr_DelayMgr.cpp", line 3480. " This was reproducible in any session I had using UAD plugins. Having the device plugged in/turned on fixes this issue, but took a while to figure out that's what it was.

Trying to download all the latest versions of my plugins in case there is some incompatibility with Snow Leopard also.

But finally working, at least for now! Based on my experience, personally I would recommend a fresh install rather than the upgrade.

Hey I"m having the same issues,

can I do a clean install without having to reinstall all the plug-ins? that wold really suck.

And what serial number would I use for the full install? the one I got from Digi when I purchased the upgrade?

Where do I find the latest DIGI003R drivers/firmware for mac ?

Oh,

and I did run into the Quit on start up thing too, it wound up to be a MOTU plug in the Motu Ethno instrument. version 1. got rid of that and PT9 opened fine, but still getting 6086 errors on a Quad core 2.66 with 4GB Ram.

I'm going to try to put the 003R on it's own dedicated FW card, see if that helps.
