Default 003r not recognized by PT9

Pretty damned frustrating after the money I just spent - $250 for the cross-grade which owning a 003r entitled me to. Sent in my 003r serial # to activate. Now "Aggregate Device" is all I see in the set-up menu. Had I known there was gonna be a problem with the 003r I would never have bought PT9. Seems you find out the bad news AFTER you blow the bucks. WHAT GIVES, AVID????

The 003r will run with PT9. Have you installed the latest driver for the interface? If so, tell us about your system...

Hold down "N" when you boot. If the correct driver is installed, you'll see the 003 in the list.

Okay....originally, I had a Firewire 800 connection from my new Imac to an OWC drive. I daisy chained out of the OWC's 2nd FW 800 port to the 003r using an adaptor cable (800 to 400). That may have been PARt of the problem. I replaced the cable from the OWC drive to the 003r with a standard FW 400 cable (the OWC has a single 400 port), and got device recognition. HOWEVER, I still get NO MIDI or audio reception.

Could I ask what do you mean by "audio reception"?

What happens when you connect the 003 directly to the iMac?

"Been there done that.....NADA" That response is not helpful. Describe what happens when you hold down "N" during boot. Is the 003 there?

Default Re: UPDATE

Thanks to a very knowledgeable Stephen Naya (who AVID should hire for customer support), I am now getting audio from the 003r to PT9. But still no MIDI. I'm totally confused by the audio/midi set-up, and by the "midi studio set-up in PT9. Is the 003r considered a "midi device"? Anyway, per Stephen's instructions, I uninstalled PT9 (.02). Then FIRST, I installed the drivers ("002 - 003 family"). Next, I installed PT9. Then again as per Stephen's instructions, I ran the 9.0.2 updater BEFORE even opening 9.0. And before opening 9.0.2 after the update finished, I ran "repair Disc permissions" from disk utility. According to Stephen, this is a safe if not necessary step.

What do you see in MIDI preferences? Does it show the 003r? Are there any MIDI time-stamp options? Seems you're fortunate to have a friend who was a beta tester.

Personally, I've been there, done that, and no more. Nada. (Yeah in Cali we too speak pigeon Spanglish.)
