Buffer 32 works fine at 48K/24. I had to use 128 before to be stable. Hey Avid, send out an advisory! I shouldn't have to find out by cruising the DUC.

10.13.6 WORKS.
Hey Skylinepro, can you *record* at least a pair of tracks at 32buffer on a full session? That's where my machines went cpu-spike-crazy (OS 10.12.6) unless I closed down the edit & mixer windows. Playback was never an issue even with big sessions.

Fantastic if you can?

I see there is another sup update 2 for HS 10.13.6 for the touch bar by the looks. I consider I went first when I installed the first sup before I first tried installing PT a month ago with no hassles.... anyone else keen to go first this time?

I am really tempted to give this a shot. I have CPU spikes more often with these latest builds than I did three or four updates ago. I checked it out and my computer (5,1) needs a firmware update to make the jump to 10.13.6 so moving back could be a huge pain the arse. Can Avid make an announcement about 10.13.6 please?

You mean potentially downgrading to Sierra for example? Not a problem at all. I've had the new boot ROM for a while now (MP51.0089.B00) and reverted back to Sierra without any trouble. I am now back to High Sierra and both OS performance and PT's are great. Note that Mojave requires this boot ROM for installation, also you need an EFI gpu for the firmware upgrade, so you might as well do it now - totally harmless.

Does that mean that we are technically using a 'qualified' system if we upgrade to 10.13.6? Would Avid still offer technical support?

I badly want to try the update. I really wish Avid would officially qualify it!

Me too, without the "finally" ...

I've probably ran every single PT version out there since PT 6.0 on OSX but you need to always clone your "working" drive so if things go south you can revert by simply cloning back. Or to have multiple partitions, as I had when I was in the beta team.

Never ever rely on one single booting drive if you depend on your tool

I've escalated the question regarding 10.13.6 qualification but as always we get a word when the process is done :/

Looks good though, no glitches here.

I'm running Yosemite still 10.11.6. Will the firmware update allow backwards compatibility that far?

when I got my MBP last month it came loaded with 10.13.6 and I contact Avid before I installed 2018.4 (at the time) they were very happy to offer tech support even though 10.13.6 isn't supported. the installation went hassle free apart from the noted buffer error. the buffer error has gone since 2018.7 albeit it might pop up once a week, I usually change nothing and I don't see it again. but that is my experience.... seems pretty solid to me now. I can only assume that Avid is prolly aware that some users have experienced a bug fix but and are yet to satisfy themselves (probably against a set of conditions)

my greatest apologies ill never try to be funny here again..... regards
