Default Re: Loop Sync vs external word clock in.... all HDio interfaces

A question that just hit me...

If you have 3 or 4 HD I/O boxes using loop sync, can you also use wordclock out to feed something else, such as a digital reverb?

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Yes, but you need to split the loop sync signal which drops its level. Normally this is a non-issue, but you don't want to do that if you have lengthy WC cable runs...

EDIT:

You can always use the ext.clock output (wordclock) but if you have special needs such as 256x superclock or non-base sampling rate, the ext.clock output follows what you have in the hardware setup. But no matter what you have in the hardware setup, the loop sync is always at the 1x base sampling rate (44.1k or 48k) and you can use it as you wish.

I myself just have digital reverbs clock to incoming AES. Works great, and fewer wires.
