can i glide-back automation with VCA masters CF Group?

Is there a way to trigger a "glide-back" for an individual member of a VCA group, while keeping that member on the rotary faders of the VCA masters channel strip?
When I have a CF bank of VCA masters showing, and I grab a rotary control to tweak a track fader or plug in, unless I am in touch auto mode, I have to stop the bus in order to stop writing auto data.
i hope there is another way. please advise...

While viewing VCA's in CF master mode with the members displayed in the encoders, hit the select button under the encoder for the track you wish to glide back...it will become the focused track in the main module, then just hit the auto button on the focus strip to glide back to the previous automation.

boy do i feel dumb! I hit the select button all the time to focus a plug in. why didn't i see the obvious?
