Default PT MP Crossgrade Questions

Hello everyone, it has been some time since my last post. I finally purchased a new computer, and realize it is time for a Pro-Tools Upgrade as well. I have been running PT MP 7.1 on my MacBook (Black) on OSX Tiger since January '06, and lets face it, it's been too long! So I purchased a Mac Pro that is running OSX 10.6.8 currently, and need to know if:

A - Will 7.1 run on this OS? and
B - Is there any available upgrade/crossgrade to get me to a newer version so that I can run Pro-Tools on my new system without having to straight up purchase Pro-Tools 10?

I am having a hard time finding concise information on these sorts of details on the new Avid site. Still used to the old Digi site :P

Default Re: PT MP Crossgrade Questions

A: not officially. It might install, but PT 7.1 isn't supported on 10.5, let alone 10.6.8. 8.0.5 or MP9 is required for Snow Leopard.

B: there's a $200 upgrade to go to MP9 - and it is valid for 7.0 or later, so you're covered (according to the Avid store) http://shop.avid.com/store/product.d...07304586346816

That's a heck of a lot better than going to PT 10 price-wise, though if you've been using the same M-Powered setup since the Tiger days I might suggest you look at a new interface (Unless it's a Fast Track ultra, those pre-amps are awfully noisy), and if you're going to look at a new interface, you'll want to skip the MP9 upgrade. Either get an MP9 bundle or a PT 10 bundle (depending on what you want to spend). I have the Mobile Pre bundle with MP9 and the preamps are pretty quiet for a $129 interface, or in my case a $300 bundle from Sweetwater.
