Default How do I use third party plug-ins with Pro Tools 10

New to Pro Tools and I have no idea what I'm doing. I have EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold and Pro Tools both installed. When I google my question, I see something about a VST to RTAS adapter and a bunch of people complaining about how much it sucks and doesn't work. Is this the only solution? I was under the impression PT would integrate with major third party plug-ins a little smoother... looks like I might have to drop another hundred bucks on another piece of software which will confuse me further.

Anyways, I'd appreciate it if someone could even just point me in the right direction.

Used the wrapper for YEARS without a hitch. It only converts VST to RTAS though. Available from www.fxpansion.com and worth it.

I'm glad to hear you haven't had any issues with it, I guess I'll make the investment. I just assumed most sound libraries were VST, but I'm terribly ignorant of all of this.

It says Play 3.040... I'm not sure if that's the version of Symphonic Orchestra or just the Play engine. I got it about three years ago.

You don't need a wrapper for that. It runs in RTAS as well.
