Hi Hellbert,
I have had this same issue many times with PT9 on my EMU 0404 card. What I found out at least on my end is that my EMU card does not play well with pro tools when a sample rate change is made. For example: Working on a 48k session then loading a 44k session. It would always give me that condition. I am not sure if that would be tha case on your audio device but its worth a look just in case. Erik

I had the same problem for a few days on only one song. I finally got an error message that gave me some direction...
PT said to change hardware buffer size. I increased it to 1024 samples and changed the CPU usage to 90%. Wha-la its working again.
