Suggestions for a Pc Laptop

Hi Guys,
I'm about to buy a new PC Laptop and I'd really appreciate
some advices on which model to select.
I'd like to spend not more than 600 €.
Any suggestion? Acer, HP?
It's not that clear on the Digidesign Support page
how I could find a completely compatible computer.

You are definitely going to want/need to expand your budget just a little bit.

Digidesign recommends quite clearly several specific brands/models on their Windows laptops for Pro Tools 8 page, none of which fall into your price range. There is a reason for this. Pro Tools, like other high performance software, has certain physical requirements that can only be met, unfortunately, at those higher price points.

With 600 € (roughly $850 US) you might be able to find a bargain/sale price on one of the recommended models (the T61, specifically), but if you expand your budget to about 800 €, you will have a much better chance.

Also, I would like to personally recommend the little white macbook from Apple (about 715 € ). Even though it is only officially supported by Digidesign running OSX, it also will run Windows, and runs Pro Tools very well (in my personal experience).

The only problem is that every and each model on the digidesign compatibility page is out of production.
Anyone have any suggestion?

But they are all still available for purchase new.

Do a search for Lenovo. Several posters have had good results from some of their laptops, in particlular epu IIRC.

Try sites like Refurbdepot.com overstock.com ebay.com geeks.com ect.... you may find a nice refurbished unit that is compatible for alot less, and most refurbs have warrenties, iv owned many refurbished items and 99% of the time they are just as good as new and you save thousands of dollars.

Vaios and Dells are both very hit or miss...
