OT - Presonus Central Station or Mackie Big Knob ?

as I read the prosonus is completly passive ... it has a rele switches ...
but mackie has the right conections... but it is not passive so maybe there is some coloration of the sound ...

any Help ?

You've answered your own question... if sound is more important (and you have the budget) the choice is clear. It depends on what you'll be doing.. if you're simply editing and sonics aren't your number one concern.. then the cheaper route may be the right one.

IMHO the Samsom C-Control belongs in the equation as well. I've heard it, and A/B'd to a direct hardwire connection, it's transparant. Others have commented on this unit quite favorably as well, and at $99, it's tough to beat. I'm not a big Samson fan, but this product hits the mark big.

I can't give you a comparison between the two, but, I have the Big Knob and I really like it. Very easy to hook up and small enough for my desktop. It has a nice headphone mix setup as well. I don't notice a sound difference at all. I don't claim to have perfect ears but it sounds the same as coming right out of my 002. Hope this helps

I just picked up the Samson C control and so far I've been pleased. It seems to fill a missig link in my setup. Not sure if I hear a sonic difference, I'll be testing that futher whenI get some time.

I tested the C Control ... I heard a litel difference ... just a litle less highs and less stereo ... but the main disapointment was that the output B is - 10 db and not +4 as output A...

I have a speaker setup with 3 pairs of speakers each with his own amp ...

I have to say us guys on this side of the pond have chuckled at Mackie and their Big Knob. In the UK a knob is a man's D**K! So for Mackie to bring out a big knob is great for us guys, it's not every day you get to claim to have one! I'd buy one just for that.
