Can't speak for the Rode's, but I absolutely LOVE the Oktava MK012 for OH.

I'm having an emotional moment just thinking about it...

I have one NT1, the original one. I have used it as a room mic for drums with good results. I have also gotten fantastic results from the Oktave MK012s as an overhead pair. They sound huge on acoustic guitar, too.

Okay, okay, so is anyone going to actually answer his question or just keep praising their favorites...

he wants opinions on the NT1a, at least give him some comparisons instead of just mentioning your faves.

I am using two of the original NT1's as overheads and I like them very much.Shure SM 57 on snare, D112 and a AT Mic on kick. The NT1's are great on cymbols, hats, as well as the toms and extra snare.A nice balance.

Hey all, i have 2 original NT1's.....i used them as drums OH's in the past. I thought the rodes had too much sizzle in the hi end.

For a preamp i used a dbx 386 w/ the cheap chinese tube switched out w/ a vintage telefunken12AU7 clocked to a lucid Genx6 into 001 via spdif. Latley i have been using 57's in tha same pre config and love it. I am shure (ha) that royers would sound better on OH...but until i have an extra $1500 layin around.....

rock
