Default Missing Regions That Aren't Missing?

Anyone have this happen?

We've opened up a session and there are various regions missing...but not missing. What I mean is that, for example, if you look at the guitar track, the various regions that make up the whole track are all in the window but one or two are grayed out and don't play. Those regions, however, are listed in the Region List (same name/length) and can be cut/pasted right into the track.

Thoughts? Help?

Holy crap! After all these years, I never knew that a region on a track could be muted...not sure why that's actually an option...always did that stuff in automation.

Thanks so much...it's always something simple that you find out after reconstructing the whole session.

Now, what about the alignment marker post....any thoughts there?

There's a guitar track and it has, let's say, 10 different regions making up the entire song. (Maybe we took a solo from one take and chords from another; the point is it's now a completed track.) Out of the 10 sections, 2 of 'em are grayed and don't play. No mixing/mutes have been written so it's not like that one section is suddenly muted.

Does this make sense?

This still sounds like the regions that are greyed are muted!! i'm not talking about the track mutes.

Select them press command+M and see what happens. are they still greyed out?

Damn...you weren't supposed to see my reply. I edited it right after discovering you were right! After all these years I never knew you could mute just a region in the middle of the track; I always used automation for that but I can see the value in being able to shut something on and off, without having to change windows, while working on a couple of things.

Now, why there were random regions muted throughout the session...that might just remain a mystery.

Thank you for your help...now, how 'bout the "alignment" post...any thoughts there.
