So its been nearly four days now, and still NO help from Avid.
I've been waiting for a response to this thread for several days now.
Not only has the Pro Tools 10 installer left me without any form of Pro Tools whatsoever, the Pro Tools 9 uninstaller has failed to work properly everytime I've run it, and left an absolute abortion of a mess in my registry and file folders. This area seems to get more discussion, so i'll post it here too. I'm on the borderline of having to do a complete reformat of my PC because of Avid's crap installers, and not a word from any of them. Apparently I even have to PAY them for technical support now? Thank God this isn't occuring in a commercial studio, it could have cost me a ridiculous amount of money by now. I think I'll politely decline future Pro Tools 'updates', they cause more harm than good! Furious! |

You might need to do a clean format.

So it seems, but the fact that I even have to consider that an option is... pathetic, really.

Well that could have happened with any software really. Widows is sometimes fickle when it comes to uninstalling software, even more about cleaning it's own registry.

Re: So its been nearly four days now, and still NO help from Avid.
True, but its never been THIS difficult to rectify the problem. I've been through my registry manually, been through every suspiciously-named folder on my HDD, and I still can't find anything out of the ordinary, but its there somewhere.
I've never had a problem with software like this since... well birth I guess. I would be a little more forgiving if Avid had reasonable tech support, but nope. Nothing. Not a single word. Changing my operating system was easier than upgrading PT9 to PT10. Unbelievable. |

Re: So its been nearly four days now, and still NO help from Avid.
also this is an users forum not a tech suport forum
DTS use to try and help as much as he could get to so may be better to: A) find a local expert to help get your system in shape B) bite the bullet and do a suport call
