Pass phrases can be changed. Fingerprints or even your retina can not.

Even face-ID which was supposed to be 1000 time safer than the finger print has been hacked only a few weeks (or days) after the release of the iPhone.

Some time ago someone published 3D printer files for all TSA luggage keys made from a photo that someone posted on the net.

Physical features that can not be changed are not safe to use as crypto-keys.

Many many years ago our minster for inner affairs presented the biometric ID card containing a finger print that was oh so impossible to copy. On the first press-conference a hacker lifted the minister's print off a water glass the guy had been using during the press conference. Only days later they had a silicone finger made with his print on the web (made with easy to obtain tools) as a proof-of-concept that finger prints are pointless as proof of ID and a form of protest against our governments telling us we're all so much safer by handing them over all our private info. This info in the hands of private corporations is probably even worse.

Just saying...
True. Hard to change locks in a car. At least I’ve never heard of it being done.

You can have a million keys it still won’t do you any good unless you know what it unlocks. Have you any conceivable idea how many locks there are in the world?? There are way too many to try everything one by one, and the shear act of that could potentially tip off the security watch dogs.

FaceIDs are a lot harder to rip, in a well developed tech like Apple’s photos don’t work, even twins. The info is stored isolated on a separate chip within the device too, like the fingerprint. So without the device the finger print or the facial id won’t help.

Not saying that the two way security isn’t superior, clearly it is. But we have the choice whether we want to engage it or not.

I am 1000% confident that if someone were to steal my finger print they wouldn’t know what to do with it. Of all things, the last thing they would be checking out is what plugins I’m using. They will be going after other things like bank accounts, and tax information, Facebook data, Microsoft data, but they wouldn’t get much from any of those since that is where 2-way authorisation is used. In the case of Facebook, I don’t keep personal info on there.

In the case of running a plugin, I’m very confident that one-way fingerprint or facial recognition, that I would optionally choose to do, will do the job. At least with the people I socialise with and the places I end up going. The obscurity adds an extra layer of protection.

Hell even if you opted for 2way it’s still a potentially better idea than an iLok which can be outright stolen and used straight up.

In the case of hardware, Focusrite and Novation have started circulating their “teaser”
http://email.focusrite.com/events/pu...3-00f9424b2943

Many sales have just ended or will be ending in a matter of hours, like IK Amplitube, iZoptope’s Creative plugins and Plugin Alliance’s Week 2 sales.

However, I’m sure this is a little bit of smoke and mirrors as they would be gearing up for the big weekend. In the case of PA I think they will be likely to open up this months sales again, plus offer a few extra discounts.

Yes - it's a 50% upgrade path; actually you'd want to select 'update' and not upgrade.

The term 'Black Friday' comes from an older time when a business ledger showed black ink instead of red ink which indicated they made their expenses for the year and are making a profit. Break-even and then some if you will.

You have email from me on this.

In the U.S., Black Friday is the day after our Thanksgiving holiday, which commemorates the massacre of a tribe of Native Americans after they helped save the lives of a bunch of puritanical refugees from Holland who called themselves "The Pilgrims", after they illegally established a rogue colony in what would become Massachusetts.

Thanksgiving is always the 3rd Thursday in November, and Black Friday is the following day and traditionally commences the start of the Holiday shopping season with the run up to Christmas. So, Black Friday is next Friday, the 24th.

More recently the Cyber Monday Holiday falls on the first Monday after Black Friday and commemorates the day that the Pilgrims invented the Internet, so we celebrate by having huge discounts on online purchases of useless junk that you would never buy in the first place.

And, even more recently, there is the Giving Tuesday holiday on the first Tuesday after Cyber Monday, after Black Friday, after Thanksgiving; where people are guilted into giving to charitable causes since they spent the weekend between Black Friday and Cyber Monday being so selfish and spending lavishly on material possessions. So they have to give to charity to help make up for being so self absorbed.

Wow, it's complicated... Here in the old world we are just given 30 paid vacation days a year and we can pretty much decide when we keep them. Not to mention, recently if you get sick during your holiday you are in fact on a sick leave and can use holidays on another time. I wonder why many Finns are so sick in July

That would be nice.....im jealous, you should buy me a plugin for Black Friday to make up for the extra vacation days you get.

Justice! Thanks for the accurate description of the upcoming weekend of self indulgence and history twisting in the name of Mammon. Like a not so wise man never said: Fake Holidays!

In Sweden we have 5 weeks of payed vacation. When I say we, I mean those who have a steady job. Not us self employed proletarians. We have zero days and still pay over 50 percent taxes, should we manage to make any positive results after direct cost of running the business. Not salaries... By zero days I mean that if I don't work for a day, I don't make any money that day. Simple as that.
