Automatic "jump to"
Is there any way to set up a point in a session to have playback automatically jump to a particular marker?
Here's the use case: I am working on a song where one of the verses has two parts (part A and part B). I am toying with the idea of removing part A. I could easily do this by deleting it, and shifting the rest of the session backwards. But, as a temporary test, I'd love to be able to put a marker at the beginning of part A. When playback hit this marker., it would be programmed to jump to the beginning of part B, which would allow me to audition this change before I make it. I know I could click my second marker mid-playback at the right moment to simulate this, but I was hoping it was able to be automated. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Re: Automatic "jump to"
I don't think you can automate it, but you could open the Markers Dialogue box (Ctrl+Num5) and easily click between the two instead of trying to do it in the Marker Timeline.

Re: Automatic "jump to"
could you use Shuffle Mode to place the different sections in whichever order you choose .. Edit Groups might also get you there ..
or something like this From Logic Pro X .. see pic .. Use Alternatives for Different Arrangements

I would just make 2 arrangements and listen to which one sounds best! Songwriting and producing is not a race and should grow naturally and taken the time to get the best and having 2 complete arrangements is the way I would go.

Re: Automatic "jump to"
Indeed! I save the session as is. Then make changes and save again as its own session. This would be a great feature(and I believe Studio One has it).
Another option is to bounce to a new track, solo the new track and chop/rearrange so you can get an idea, without chopping up everything

Re: Automatic "jump to"
No way to automatically "jump to", but you can playlist it, make your edits, and switch playlists to compare. Note that automation will follow the edit (assuming automation follows edit is enabled) but will not follow the playlist switch. If I need quick comparisons between two edited versions that's usually what I do.
Ability to quickly switch between session versions would be a very nice feature for sure.
