Don't talk about teeth.
The dentist yesterday told me I might have some bone loss. I'm just glad she wasn't checking anything else.

Youch!

Well look at it this way - George Washington was a helluva guy even with wooden teeth!

Does that help at all?

I've seen the track count license for about $900 USD, (roughly $1200 AuD cuz our dollar is strong right now)... but it irks me that other DAW's offer the same, (and more), as a basic feature.

That $900 could buy me a new MBox2 Pro with a full host of PT software! Why then is Complete so expensive? just to pick our pockets.

As I've said (too often), I do not need the plugs that come with it, nor the video editing and post features..

I can and have learned to work around the track / buss limitations... and I never hit the ceiling that much.. but why? It's more a principal than anything for me.

As I've said elsewhere.. I have a lot invested in having a PT system. It will always be around becaue I will not just throw it away.. however, any further money I spend on my DAW is likely to go elsewhere as I see other offerings as a better value... and I see other companies making an effort to appease their customer base.

Ahhhhh.. I need to shut up now. There's nothing new in this post and I apologize for wasting time.. but it's my first of the day so I may as well get my complaining done with early so I can get on with making bad jokes...

Peace!

This is fodder for another thread (and another website altogether), but why is track count so critical?

I keep thinkin - one dude with an acoustic and maybe some congos can move people more than an 80 track recording with faux harmonies, doublers, etc..

It really depends on the song.

Am I WAY off here?

Actually you are not way off.

But when a client walks in with a dream and a budget and the dream is based on 40 tracks of percussion and ever word of every harmony being separately dealt with on separate tracks, then… that's what you do. I got by on 2" analog with 24 tracks and
made radio fill for years.
