cloud downloads overwriting - help!
Despite my user name, I am currently both older and more confused.
I have Pro Tools First that recently upgraded to 12.8.2 with all the cloud collaboration stuff which I don't really need. Sometimes this works OK, but more often than not, when I save and close my project I get a message about changes not being accepted yet and when I do close it and open it again, it downloads old versions of tracks and overwrites the work that I have done. How can I stop this? TIA |

Re: cloud downloads overwriting - help!
Thanks for the reply. No, I am at 60% and this only happens some of the time. When I log back in, there will be a blue cloud icon next to the track and there seems to be no option to avoid downloading from the cloud when opening the track again.

Re: cloud downloads overwriting - help!
I've never used First, unfortunately. Do you have expanded cloud storage or the free version? A cloud plan gives you unlimited projects and local session saving.

Re: cloud downloads overwriting - help!
I am paying for extended storage and only have about 6 projects at the moment.
My confusion is centred around the sync logic when the local and cloud versions differ. Why does PT seem to assume that the cloud version is the"correct" version and automatically downloads it? Am I doing something wrong or is this other people's experience too? |

Re: cloud downloads overwriting - help!
OK, I see. Sorry you're having problems. I'll forward this to Avid.

Re: cloud downloads overwriting - help!
This is driving me mad. I will step through what is happening:
1. I work on the track, save and close with everything sync'd 2. when I open the track again, I find my last changes are missing and PT is showing that there are new changes and shared tracks waiting to be downloaded; note - I am not collaborating with anyone else on this 3. If I download them, I sometimes get my changes back, but I also get a whole load of previous versions and previously deleted tracks. I end up with 31 tracks but there were only 12 when I last saved it. 4. I also end up with a load of access violations Even before this upgrade I thought the code was poor quality - this is probably the buggiest code I have ever had the misfortune to use. |
