Pro Tools 12.4 issues with Focusrite 6i6
Hi all,
i've not long upgraded to Pro Tools 12.4. I started a session using 44.1/16. Imported video, fine. Imported separate audio file with the bounced VO/SFX etc and noticed the sample rate was 48 khz and would play out of sync if i imported. So started again, set up the session using a 48khz sample rate, I/O setting as stereo mix, but it crashes every time. It simply does not like it when i choose a sample rate of 48khz - why?? Is this something to do with my sound card? (scarlett 6i6) Someone has mentioned that i may have a potentially problematic tech set up - Windows 10, Pro Tools 12 & Focusrite 6i6 - Has this caused people with similar set ups issues before? I have my 6i6 set to 48khz, but i'm using ASIO4ALL anti latency software which may be causing issues, when i start a new session using 48khz and I/O stereo mix, i get the following message "Asio devise settings have been change by the control panel, Pro Tools must be restarted for these changes to take affect" I restart, but then it still crashes? Any ideas? Anyone from Focusrite out there?? Thanks

Pro Tools 12.4 issues with Focusrite 6i6
I am having similar issues with new system
Pt12.4 Win7Pro i7 Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 Throwing message on playback "Protools could not initialize the Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver." I've done some things like switch USB port locations for Scarlett, ilok And I've installed a whole bunch of free AAX plugins And at one point I had plugged in speakers to Realtek audio card, I've tried a few things, got Scarlett working, then failed again on different session. Another thing that may have messed me up is I've tried opening and importing. Old pt 6 le pts files with mixed results. Last edited by maieta98; 02-08-2016 at 06:42 AM. |

Re: Pro Tools 12.4 issues with Focusrite 6i6
Found something. Haven't tried yet. Seems odd that focus rite driver can't switch by itself to match pt setting....
[QUOTE=DonaldM;2310357]Last week I upgraded to Pro Tools 12.3. What I discovered this morning is that if I need to change the sample rate going from session A to session B, then all I need to do is close down Pro Tools, open MixControl, change the sample rate to whatever the new session will be (44.1k or 48k), then reopen Pro Tools, open the new session. |

Not clear if user has to do Both the Windows sound sample rate check AND the Mixcontrol check or what.

Re: Pro Tools 12.4 issues with Focusrite 6i6
"another workaround is to disable the interface in the windows sound preferences, that way PT is only using the driver. "
This is what I did with my 18i20, and it helps a lot! Generally with any of my interfaces I never use them for Windows sounds, it always causes issues. Joel

And you can leave Realtek enabled for Windows sound. To play through internal sound card? Or you disable all sound?

Re: Pro Tools 12.4 issues with Focusrite 6i6
I have a Creative Audigy sound card that I use for my Windows/YouTube etc. sounds.
I connect the SPDIF out of my interface to the SPDIF in on my Audigy, and connect my monitors/speakers to the Audigy out. That way all sounds still come out my monitors/speakers, but my interface isn't being messed with by Windows. Joel

Yikes! That's quite a last resort workaround. Sounds like could affect performance too ?

Re: Pro Tools 12.4 issues with Focusrite 6i6
No issues for me, the Audigy passes the digital audio just fine. I also use a digital receiver and digital monitors for monitoring, so they do the DA conversion themselves.
You could also use analogue cables to do the same thing, if you choose. You could also have two separate speaker setups, but that seems wasteful and expensive. Joel
