Default Input signal still entering Mbox 3 when gain knobs are turn down.

Has anyone, having used or owning a Mbox 3 experienced input signal still going through the Mbox 3 even though the gain knobs are turned completely down?

My understanding, if the faders (gain knobs on the unit should prevent if turned down any signal entering & going through the unit to the computer).
Any info & experience dealing with this would be most welcomed.

I am assuming the unit may have developed a fault.

Welcome to the community.

What is your source and where is it connected? You have +54 db gain, with a -20 db pad. "Muted/silent" is not an option at the preamp stage.

Mic pres aren't faders. They often start with an initial amount of gain. Some are 10dB or more, with the Pad providing the ability to use less gain.

Thank you for responding.

I have been using an old 1990s Alesis SR16 Drum machine with it's R&L out into the front panel Unbalanced Ring tip inputs.

I often switch over to Guitar via the Front & rear buttons to activate the rear sockets using unbalanced Ring tip coming for a Digitech RP1000 multi-effects unit.

by preamp stage, I am assuming you referring to anything going through the front input sockets & rear sockets not link to the preamp?

I hope this was what you're asking about, it not sorry, I have misunderstood your question.

Whether it is the rear or front inputs & whatever is plugged in & active, it's signal is coming through went gain/input level knobs are completely turned down.

I have not noticed this before.
So when using Pro-tools or reaper & the software inputs are armed for & in record mode, I am getting between anywhere between -18 to -14db of audio, signal coming through, while the mbox3 gain/input knobs are completely turned down.
Also, a fair bit still comes through when the input knobs are pulled out for a 20db reduction.
