Default Question on Process

Well, its finally happened and I've been hired to score some video documentaries, mainly science oriented (sort like you see on Discovery Channel).

One thing I wondered about is do you need to know what video editor the client is using? Or to put it another way, does knowing what video editor is being used cause you to do anything different?

I'm guessing no, but just want to be sure.

Thanks
Donald M

If you're editing/mixing the dialogue and such, it all depends on what they export you and if they know how to do it properly.

If you're scoring, probably not. Just a video export and a timecode burn-in could be helpful.

For your own sanity ask that they give you slates and 2pops. And version numbers if they change cuts on you.

Yes! For this first one, they've given me the final cut. But, the next one is is in process, so yeah, I'll need version numbers, pops, slates and firstborn.
