Default PT 6 OSX - Digital Distortion

After soloing/unsoloing 6-8 tracks individually, When all tracks resume I get enormous digital distortion. Closing/re-opening the file stops this. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?

Mark,

Are you running SCSI drives? If you're using a supported ATTO card make sure you install the ATTO Configuration Tool found on the PT 6.0 CD. this application installs some required extensions for proper SCSI performance.

Also, make sure all of the drives are formatted with Disk Utility in OS X as HFS+ volumes. We recommend Disk Utility for SCSI drives as well as ATA and Firewire drives.

Mike,

Thank you for responding. I am actually running on Firewire:

Mac Dual 500
OSX 10.2.4
1 gig ram
Two internal HD (one with Pro tools 6.0)
One external 80 gig Glyph Firewire
HD 3
192 i/o

Does that help?

Mark,

Did you already format your firewire drives with Disk Utility on X? If not, backup your firewire drive and reformat it with Disk Utility as an HFS+ volume. Disk Util will also let you partition firewire drives unlike Erase Disk in OS 9. Let me know how it turns out.

Mike,

I have a client with an HD3 system PT 5.3.1 on a dual 1 gig running on OS 9.2.2. They have 4 hot swap ultra wide SCSI drives (w Digi's ATTO UL3D HBA) in a StorCase enclosure formatted with the ATTO Application. Everything is currently working well.

On a different internal IDE drive, they have OSX 10.2.4 installed. They are about to install PT 6 on that drive only.

Will they have to reformat their 4 hot swap drives with Disk Utility in OSX to be able to properly use the SCSI drives with PT 6 or will they operate under PT6 as is without formatting?

They will be rebooting and switching back and forth between PT5 on OS9 and PT6 on OSX.

Thanks.

Doug
