Default Touching the fader and NOT seeing a dB level?????

I'm touching the fader on my D-control and I don't see a dB level in the scribble script. It doesn't work with any of the display modes. Please help. I wanna touch the fader and see the level in the scribble script. I tried rebooting the buckets also. No luck.

Are you sure TchVal (Touch Value) is ON? In the soft key section under Operations, fourth page.

This started happening in some versions recently but appears to have been fixed in the new 7.4.2 version. It was a real PITA but could generally be fixed temporarily by throwing away your Pro Tools prefs. Of course that took all your prefs with it.

I first noticed this in 7.4.1 but 7.4.2 seems to have fixed it.

Yeah, it must be a version thing. Our rig is back two CS releases, I think...could be time to update to the latest CS. We'll report back!

This is one of many annoying bugs in the Icon. From DTS:

Thanks Uno,

One question...how do you reload the current firmware to the Icon? Do you download it off the Digi site?

Thanks for any info you have...

I think you hold down Mute-Solo-Select on each unit while powering it up (for the center section use the focus fader). Undeclare the Icon, power off, hold down mute-solo-select, power it all on, then redeclare, and Pro Tools will update firmware. I think. Digi, chime in if I am wrong.

Yeah, it seems as though once you're reloaded the D-Control firmware, if the problem comes up again, you have to close the session, trash JUST THE PRO TOOLS PREFERENCES using the Pro Tools "Pref trasher" program, then restart ProTools. If you do that, the touch value returns when you touch a fader.

Digi...the Icon is a main product for Digi, it would seem...can you help track down what's happening here?

Upgrade your Pro Tools - I'm pretty sure it's been fixed.

Running 7.4.2

I lose my TchVal at least once a day. Trashing prefs only, seems to fix it.

It happens so often, that I have written a Quickey that will set up all my prefs after they've been trashed.

I've given up on customizing my user soft keys because of how often I have to trash the prefs.
