Default updating browser?

I'm still on Pt 9. and Snow Leopard OS (I think 10.6.6)

I have frozen this Imac setup in time, since 2011 - and am still even using Safari as a browser.

I can update browsers and not have it affect Snow Leopard, or my Pro Tools setup, right. For some reason I chose to never do it.

What is the current browser, and should I bother to upgrade, or not?

Or does it even matter?

thanks,
