Pro Tools stops during recording- usb error

Okay, this is driving me nuts- recording one stereo track for Vdrums and I'm using a click (no plug in's except the click), while recording
it just stops- and gives me the usb error message- I'm using Mbox with a powerbook G4 15" 512memory recording to external 120 firewire drive- OSX 10.2.8 ProTools 6.1.2- I've tried changing up the settings - 512samples, cpu usage,etc. - everything -
It's killing me - Having to explain to the musician that we have to punch in because the computer hiccuped- please help
