Def looks promising. However why do they have more analog ins than you can use at once. Same with the omni, but not quite as bad. At least you can use more than 8 inputs total. I just don't see why UA can't let us use all 4 mic pres and all 8 analog inputs simultaneously. And using more than one box isn't yet an option. It's coming soon....

Aside from that it's close to my ideal "004". Even the price is reasonable IMO. For what it offers.

The two inputs are most likely to optimize that if you have a line in it doesn't have to go through the Mic Gain stage. This would be set at minimum gain and have a worse self noise than bypassing the Mic Stage and go through a smaller adjustable gain stage suitable for line ins...........

because it is 12 analog inputs it wont mean it is 12 AD converters.

looks very much like this!
http://sonic-core.net/joomla.sonicco...id=122&lang=us

Except this one is ZERO latency, 2xadat, midi, and synths on top (but not the UAD plugins sadly!), and many modular mixers

I understand that. But why not include 4 more converters. I also understand you can keep different sources plugged and and switch. I also understand the difference between mic level and line level. To me it's like they've give a car a V8 but only 6 cylinders actually work at a time. Same thing with omni. Here's all these cool inputs to plug all your gear into. Pick 8.

Anywho it still look like a really cool interface. Did ya hear Sonnox is now a UAD developer? Makes this box all that more attractive. Especially once daisy chaining is allowed. 2 quads interfaces would be killer. ESP hooked up via thunderbolt. Then if you need even more power add their standalone DSP box. Seems as though this is a lot like I said Avid should do. Only I'd like it to be a bit more like Apogee Symphony as far as I/O. Give us options as to what kind of I/O we need. And scalable DSP. Sounds awesome. :)

Agree.

I'v been close to buying the Omni several times, but the $3000 dollars extra for the Native PCI card has turned me off this solution every time.
The UA Apollo looks like the dream version of Omni. 2 x HP, 4 x Mic pres, 8 x analog I/O, and Thunderbolt! Seems perfect!
