Default Omni interface...4 tracks only?

I have a question about the Omni interface. The manual says that it can only record 4 tracks simultaneously. What if I connect an ADAT lightpipe equiped mic pre (say like the Onyx 800R). Do I get the other 8 inputs at 24bit 44.1Khz?

OMNI is 8 simultaneous input/8 simultaneous output total .

It only allows 4 analog though, so to use all 8 inputs simultaneously, the other 4 must be digital.

And those digital can be at 96 since the optical has SMUX capability. Or you can use AES for higher sample rates.
