How do you sell a WAVES plugin?
Hi all -
I have the SSL Bundle. I love it, but I don't love WUP. I'm considering sending my cash over to URS, Sony/Sonnex, and/or McDSP. I'll probably end up selling my SSL bundle. I know how to buy and sell used iLok driven plugs, but what about WAVE's screwed up PACE, but not quite iLok authorization? How do I go about selling a used WAVES authorization? -Tom

Re: How do you sell a WAVES plugin?
Hello. I don't think you will like this answer but in order to sell your Waves stuff your WUP has to be current. After that, on the iLok side of things I believe it works the same way. Waves recommend that you have an iLok strictly dedicated to Waves plug ins, which if you do, then that iLok goes along with the software sale. If you don't have Waves on their own iLok, transfer them to one and you should be OK. If you have to update your WUP and/or purchase another iLok plus a license transfer fee, make sure you pass all those expenses along to your sale price. Good luck.

Then the buyer needs to pay Waves $150 to transfer the assets.
They get paid by both ends. |

Re: How do you sell a WAVES plugin?
You guys have to be yanking my chain, right??? If not, that's the biggest rip I've ever seen. So, I've got to spend $300 + iLok just to be able to sell this thing? I'm not going to make enough money to make it even worth selling. That's just nuts.

Hello. Well as I said, make sure your sale price reflects all these additional expenses. Good luck.

Re: How do you sell a WAVES plugin?
Its an interesting concept to sell something ,and then want to be involved when its resold,Can you sell pro tools without digidesign being involved?.I can see that there may be a cost to register to get future updates, which ive recently done with a URS plug in i bought of ebay (URS were very helpful and consequently got more money out of me for the channel strip pro ),but it comes down to choice and being aware of what the license agreement is when you purchase.Like a lot off business practice's,if people put up with it,it will continue.
I left my gold bundle at version3 anyone want it? lol |

Re: How do you sell a WAVES plugin?
I don't think you can transfer Waves licenses to another iLok...can you? At least that's not what their tech support said today.

Re: How do you sell a WAVES plugin?
I heard from a Waves rep a few days ago that Waves is going to change to the standard iLok licensing like all the other plug-in manufacturers pretty soon - I got the impression that it would happen within a few months. What this means exactly I'm not sure, but right now I guess they do things differently iLok-wise than other companies. Don't know if that helps you at all.
