Default Pro Tools First with Mbox 2 Mini

Is it possible to use an Mbox 2 mini with Pro Tools First on Windows 7?

I downloaded PT First and attempted to open it just to have look-see but it instructed me not to open it until an interface was connected.

I have a 003 Factory, (to be used with PT 8 on an iMac being repaired), and an Mbox 2 Mini. I'd like to use the Mbox but assume it needs a driver - which I cannot find.

Is there a way to do this or am I wasting my time?

Thanks much.

Looking at your sig, 10.10 isn't officially supported with the Mbox 2: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...2-Mini-Drivers
I'm not sure if there is a way around it, or if it is a firm does not work..

My iMac is 10.10. That's in the shop. The borrowed Windows 7 laptop is where I've downloaded PT First. I looked for a driver to download to no avail.

I looks like I either buy a new interface and toss the Mbox or forget PT First.

The Windows 7 driver is available in the link I posted above.

Joel, you're smarter than I look. Good thing. I downloaded the proper driver for my Mbox 2 mini and successfully opened a new project in PT First and recorded some guitar.

Unfortunately I can't get a single sound out of it nor does it have any plugins except a few basic tools - EQ, Compressor, verb, delay, signal generator, and, of course AVID Marketplace, etc. - no instruments (except Click II, whatever that is).

The default MIDI drum track it created in the 'Blues' template, (templates were all it seems to offer), was created by an Expand II plugin, which is grayed out and says it's "Missing".

I followed the "Installation Guide" letter for letter, (except 'How to uninstall Pro Tools' which may be next) but I get nothing. No sound, no instruments, no blank sessions - just a template I cant use.

Unless you have a good suggestion this is headed for the scrapyard.

Addendum: I can see my guitar track in the Edit Window and I can see the MIDI drum track but I can't hear either. I spent all day making sure everything was connected and set up right.

I can't help but think AVID had done a Bait 'n Switch. I'm sure they'd rather have money from me than give me something for free that is actually usable.

Addendum 2: Just in case it was a faulty Mbox I used a different interface, (one that installs its own driver when plugged in), with the same results.

Default Pro Tools First/Windows 7 playback issue.

I downloaded PT First into Windows 7 with an Mbox 2 Mini and downloaded and installed the Mbox driver from the AVID site that was recommended.

I can open a session and record an audio track and see, in the edit window, the audio track and the default MIDI drum loop from the template, but I can hear none of it.

I followed the installation instructions but I get no sound, nor are there any plugins except a few tools like EQ and compression.

I was under the impression Pro Tools First was a full-on version of PT 12 with a few restrictions but there are no instrument plugins - and, I can't get a single sound out of it.

Ideas?

This is crap. I admit it - I got fooled. Once. An obvious attempt on the part of the Almighty AVID to give me enough to pique my interest but not enough to actually use in any meaningful way unless I pay and pay and pay.

DELETE!

I'm switching to Logic Pro X!
