Default Importing audio from CD

I'm trying to import a .cda file off of a CD into a track. I'm using Pro Tools 6.1 on WIN with an MBox. When I try to import the file, it says that the file is unreadable. Should the file be in a different format? Please help ASAP. Thanks.

PTs doesn't import .cda files directly. You need to rip the audio file from the cd into a .wav file first. I use dbpoweramp, but there are tons of 'em out there.

Google CDEx. It is based on the LAME converter, so it is the best sounding mp3 converter in addition to being a fine wav ripper. Best of all, it's free.

Thanks.

This business of having to compile from source code is a bit scary though.
