Right. So what will happen, is that far from being able to release new features after they have been fully developed and tested and are actually ready for prime time...They will be rushed and released to met their support plan requirements just so they can say that they released something.

Or you decide to skip PT12 and wait for PT13 or whatever - then you have to buy a whole new PT at whatever price they're charging at that time. You can't just buy into the support contract.

OR...maybe they have a whole bunch of new features built and ready to go, and are holding on to them so they can trickle out new features in order to satisfy their "Upgrade Subscription with Support"

So, far from moving to a "versionless" software model...Now EVERY new update will be it's own version. By the end of 2015, we could be on Protools 14 or 15.

Maybe that's why they haven't listed any new actual features included in Protools 12. Because they are going to be included in Protools 13 in June and Protools 14 in October and Protools 15 which will be released on December 30, 2015.

The point of adding new features one at a time is to isolate and speed up problem solving. The point of all customers being on a support plan is to immediately learn about any problems that got missed during development.

It's a completely different approach to developing software that has a very good track record for reliability in other fields. You can project a negative outcome on anything but this new approach makes a lot of sense to me for something as complex as Pro Tools is.

I think you are over estimating how much Avid cares about the quality of it's product versus it's need to generate cash flow to prop up it's stock price.

I think Avid has far more incentive to care about the quality of their product than anybody else. Pro Tools has a number of well known problems but there are work-arounds for most and everything else I've been exposed to has turned out to have even bigger problems there were absolutely no work-arounds for.

Looks like the crossgrade PT 11 is still good as of 2/13/15. I attempted to purchase at guitar center. Except that they need to sell you a "card" as digital download. They were not able to confirm that PT 10 License is still included. Can some on confirm

Everyone who owns Pro Tools 11 can confirm. Pro Tools 11 comes with a bundled Pro Tools 10 license, whether you purchase new or as an upgrade.

instead of focusing to the product, make it stable, it seems they are adding feature just to pretty up it a bit for marketing. If they're unable to manage it they should sell ProTools (like they did with m-audio) but to a company that cares about it and respects the customers.

I hope it will again get "the daw" as it was long time ago, but I guess this will not happen under the avid flag.
I want to know more about this.
