Default Is losing your iLok still the end all of everything?

Or have they put a new policy in the last year or two? Reading tons of these horror stories about people losing their iloks and having to re contact all the companies they've bought software from, hoping to retrieve licences, etc..

But all of these are from like 2012 so I was wondering if over the last couple years anything better has been implemented?

Because I have some good priced licenses on there, and I'm a student so its not like if I lose my iLok I can just re purchase everything. It'll be gone.

Anyway, I haven't lost my ilok. Just worried about it now because I take it with me back and forth to school everyday. If losing it still means losing everything associated with it or waiting a month to get it all back I dont really wanna risk that any more.

Any insurance/security measures in place? My EastWest stuff alone would but horrible to lose let alone everything else on there with it.

ZDT has helped a lot https://www.ilok.com/#!zdt-coverage

one of those RFDI locators for your keys via your smart phone, on the end of the iLok is a good idea if you move around a lot

Losing an iLok is a hassle no matter what, but ZDT takes the edge off. I no longer worry about it because I know I'll get my licenses back even in the worst case scenario. Totally worth the $30 yearly fee.

can you have 2 iloks with the same licenses on them or do you need to wait until you break one then get them transferred? I was under the impression you can only have one ilok at a time.

Buy a new one and keep it as an empty spare. Ready for action if the day comes. You can have as many iLoks as you want but licenses can't be copied - only moved between iLoks.

Allow me to elaborate for newcomers to this insurance:
This coverage is included at no additional cost with your Zero Downtime subscription, however you MUST enable TLC on your iLok BEFORE the iLok is lost or stolen.
So, ZDT + TLC is recommended. Not just ZDT.

So, ZDT + TLC is recommended. Not just ZDT.
plus for convenience they want you to refresh TLC every 90 days or else, as in my case you'll be contacting each software-company individually an beg for new licenses.

in case you 'own' avid software this part can become rather ugly too, since you need to pay to contact avid nowadays... 30$

plus your coverage expires when you use the service so after buying the new ilok 60$ you buy another ZDT for it 30$. but only if you agree that coverage starts 1 or 2 weeks later. i mean, why would you need it instantly??

in case you would like to be covered from day one, this costs a little extra... 100$ to be precise.

there is quite a bit of sarcasm in this policy. i mean once you got'em by the balls, why not squeeze a little harder...
