MIDI Controllers for Xpand!2

I am looking for some assistance on using a 'You Rock Guitar' MIDI/Gaming controller with the ProTools 8LE 8.0.5 plug-in, Xpand!2. I hear the controller and see track activity when connected but when I try to record enable, the track records for about ten seconds and then fades to silence. Any ideas?
