Default Need help with Pro Tools 7.4 on Windows Vista Home Premium

When I open the cd and open the installation folder I cannot click on the setup without my computer slowing down significantly and not responding. Once I do get it open it takes forever then gives me an I/O device error. I tryed uninstalling and reinstalling the dvdr drivers and it still is happening.

To my knowledge there are no 7.4 CD's for Vista. You''ll probably need to register your version with Digi and they'll send you an authorization to download 7.4 vista.

But on second glance, I'm not sure about your Platform Compliance : Intel Centrino Mobile Technology. Also there is a way to force XP compatibility but there is no need for that. Good Luck!

I believe the Digidesign websites states that SP1 is not qualified. You can check it out here.

Pro Tools has been problematical with XP Media Center. By doing just the upgrade, that could be the issue. It is always better when installing a new OS to copy off the data you want to keep, format your OS drive and install the new OS as a clean install. Then update the OS and install your programs and copy back your data.

Cheers,

YUP!! I did the same thing. i had Media CEnter Edition. Tried just upgrading..Didn't work. i got every error under the sun. I just went in and did a fresh install, and have had no issues so far. There are conflicting drivers still on your harddrive. you need a clean install...
