when switching between sessions the audio levels change from their settings

When I switch from one session to another, my set levels change to a much louder audio level. I cannot figure this out. It been going on for about 2-3 weeks now. I run PT 10.3.8 on an iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 with 4 GB Ram and 1 TB HD with 604 GB available and the OS is 10.7.5. Sessions are on an external drive.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi, What do you mean by "set levels"? What interface are you using and how is your audio being routed from Pro Tools?

The levels have been set at a specific level and the project has been bounced or is ready to be bounced and I need to check something in another project. I close the current project and open the next project, and when I do my levels on this next session (whose levels have also been set at a specify setting) play back at a much higher level than what they had been set at. It is a noticeably higher sound than it should be and this is why we are concerned. My board is a Behringer Knyx X1832 with USB connection to the iMac. We've changed out cables, but still have this issue.

Much more info needed. Are we talking about individual faders not returning to preset positions? Are there automation breakpoints in the session not being reflected? Are we talking about overall monitor level? What's the monitor chain? etc, etc.
