Default Best sample library location?

I am running a G4 DP500 with 512 mb, 30gig ide system drive, 30 gig IDE 7200 rpm second drive for audio. Would it be advisable to keep my sample library on the system drive or the second drive that is also used for audio? I'm not sure which would get better performance. Thanks!

If you are choosing to store the files on a drive instead of the the CD, then either drive would work.

Performance (as in, how fast you can load a SampleCell Bank) should be similar between the drives. The deciding factor might be how much space is available, and possibly needed in the future, on each drive.

I drag n drop all of my SampleCell CD's on Aladdin's "ShrinkWrap" and make a virtual cd, which then I store on my main os drive for easy access and quick loading...

Just my 2 cents

Wow....Thanks for all the advicce!!!!
I should clarify my question....By "performance" I mean that I'm concernered that having large amounts of samples running from the same drive that handles my audio tracks in Protools may bogg the computer down. I wasn't sure if I should move the samples to the system drive because that drive needs to be free to access the operating system and Protools itself. I guess it's a drive speed issue. Thanks for the help guys....I can always count on the pro's here!!!

remember, your not streaming the samples. once they load, it's done. all you are taking up is ram from the processor. i just drag all of my ssc cd's onto a 80gig firewire drive and load from there. it's real fast and i'm able to bring my library with me wherever i go.
it's pretty cool.
another 2 cents.
