Default Thunderbolt 3 Chassis for HDX cards

Hi guys,

like the title says I'm wondering if anyone knows of a chassis that's released yet that will support full length (hdx) cards so a new MacBook Pro can be used with it? seems everything out already only supports half length cards

Sonnet also has a full rack mount chassis for the New Mac Pros, which includes three full length PCIe slots and an expansion bay for more SSDs/HDDs and an optical drive. We just bought one with the Blue Ray Mastering Edition expansion chassis for our HDX system and it works really well.

Adds about $1,600 to the price of the Mac Pro, but it gets you back all the PCIe and storage bays that Apple removed from the Mac Pro and puts them all in one 4U rack.

Edit: sorry, didn't notice until after I posted that you were running a MacBook Pro, not the new Mac Pro.

OP is looking for TB3/USB-C I bet.

Doubt they're out yet (if ever?) but the adapters work fine for TB2 devices in my experience (UA Twin on 2016MBP)

hey guys, thanks for the info, very handy. And even though I can use a TB2 chassis by using a dongle, what I'm hoping to find out is what Drew said about a TB3 / USBC connector to chassis as I'd like to hook up hdx to a touch bar MacBook Pro.. Theres one out from Sonnet but only for half length cards. So if anyone hears of a full length TB3 chassis either available now or in the works it would be great to know for me and others considering a USB-c Mac. Cheers :)

I realize that you're fully aware that you can hang a Thunderbolt 2 chassis off of your EmojiBar MacBook Pro with one of these...

http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MM...9b506ec6e1b4c8

... but it's worth noting that Thunderbolt 2 will have WAY more bandwidth than you'll ever need for HDX cards and SSD drives in a chassis.

And, it will also give you one added benefit you may not have considered.

In a pinch, if your machine fails, it's WAY more likely that you can find somebody in the vicinity with a TB-2 machine, install ProTools, and be up and running in time for the gig - than finding somebody with a TB3/USB-C machine (right now)...

Just sayin'!!

Cheers, eh?

I did buy the Sonnet Echo TB3D and the Sonnet Express both TB3 .
If you only need one slot the Express is the way to go .NO FAN

As for the 3 slot model the fan need to be replaced with a quieter one if the box seats close to you

They both worked perfect with a TB3 to TB3 adapter with my HDX / ?MacPro 6.1

Caveat: buy a genuine apple TB3/TB2 adapter

Is your Sonnet Express 1 slot or 2?

I see a 2 slot Sonnet Express on the internet - but it has a fan as far as i can see.

thanks.
