Used eleven Rack iLok question

Hi all!

I have an opportunity to pick up a used Eleven Rack at a pretty great price. I just want to make sure that the Pro Tools software is usable.

According to the seller he registered the iLok but never registered the Pro Tools install. He said that he has unregistered the iLok and that I can register it on my account. After that I could register the Pro Tools install.

If the above is true can I install Pro Tools and use the iLok without issues? What do you all think?

Ask him if by "Protools Install" he means the software activation code that came in the box. If that was never registered, then you would be registering it for the first time as the original owner. It won't matter if you use his Ilok or your own.

And remember that the 11 Rack registration is a separate thing from the Pro Tools registration. PT code should be on a little credit card sized piece of material that's black/purplish.

I tried to register my (used) 11R today at the Avid site and it gave me an error message "invalid product number." I was using the serial number on the back of the 11R.

Is that the right way to register an 11R? (with the serial number) or was there some kind of product code card (which I don't think I got with the 11R).

You should have gotten a card with the serial number on it. The person who sold it to you may have to do some kind of transfer of ownership if the 11R was registered to him (or her). Or you may have a bogus s/n on the 11R itself.
