Default D24 and Dsp Rev Numbers

Hi everybody,

I found a d24 core with 2 dsp farm cards for a good price but after searching through the compatibility pages on the digidesign website, I'm still a bit confused.

The D24 has a Rev number of D1

The 3 DSP Farm cards have the following numbers on the AMCC chips:
#1. 941005238 00 REV A AMCC=9707LOWK
#2. 941003868-01 REV G1 AMCC=9530QAC
#3. 941005238 00 REV B AMCC=9745LEOK

My question is this: Will I be stuck using a G3 with OS 9.1 and Pro Tools 5.3 with this setup or can I run a G4 with OS X? If I am stuck, is that G3 going to be so slow that I won't be able to get anything done or do some of you still use the old stuff? Are the commercially available G3 CPU upgrades compatible with pro tools?

I want something I can grow with and add more DSP or Mix Farm cards as I get more money. I'm willing to suffer now for something good later.

Thanks a lot,

Matt
