Default Problems Recording for a newbie...

I just got the Mbox a few days and have been playing around with it.

I having problems recording in stereo. Everything is on a mono track.

The first thing I do is create a new session and add tracks. When I add tracks I choose stereo and not mono. I can hear myself play in stereo but playback and bounce the tracks all record mono.

Can anyone help?

Also, I did notice when I bounced the session I have a left and right. Is there a way too bounce it where it one file to record to disc. I wasnt able to find it in the getting started manual.

Eddy

Bounce using "Stereo Interleaved", make sure you're a 44.1k & 16bit to be able to play it in a CD player.

Hi Eddy,

first things first, the bouncing problem is straightforward: in the BTD dialogue box make sure that "format>stereo interleaved" is selected, not 'multiple mono' etc. This will give you a stereo file of your bounce, though you can still import back into PT and edit the individual L and R tracks if needed.

Secondly, if you are recording with two inputs into a stereo track, make sure that you can see both the L and R inputs receiving a signal and you've chosen the hardware inputs that you want. This should work if you can hear stereo when monitoring - have Auto-input monitoring on in the Operations menu and record-arm the track. Also check the pan, make sure your stereo inputs are panned hard left and right to be sure.

good luck, hope that helps

awesome thanks Scott!

How about the recording in stereo? I see the track has 2 section, but for some reason it only takes up one of the section (mono)

Sounds like you're only using one input, if you're recording a synth for instance, use both outputs of the synth to 1 & 2 line in on the 002r. I personally don't record many things in stereo though.

What is it you are trying to record in stereo, but it's only giving you one channel? That'd help alot.

Yea, when you record a mono instrument such as guitar or bass (unless your using some kind of stereo effect or something) you should just use a mono track... then you can pan it whereever you want in the stereo mix. Keyboards, drum machines should be stereo but don't really HAVE to be).

you'll get the hang of it. Read through the manual a bit... believe it or not, it's a big help.
