What's better - word clock or video sync?

A co-worker asked me to pose this question. Are DA-88's sync'd to ProTools more stable using word clock or blackburst video?

Depends; if you are recording digitally to the DA88 use word clock from a dedicated masterclock. If you are recording to the DA88 using it's analog inputs use the video sync input.

I would recommend only using the video sync if your working with video. Otherwise utilize the best clock in your room for the master. (Word or SuperClock if available)..And best of all, get a really high end clock and sync all your other gear to the master clock, especially if your doing digital transfers.. Additionally if your doing timecode based transfers, amke sure your receiving system is the master for timecode, slaving the playback to the record unit.
