Default LCD FlatScreens: Best one/Eye strain

I am looking to upgrade to a flat screen. Price, high pixels, LOW eyestrain are all issues...Does anyone have any suggestions??

Many Thanks,
Zach C

P.S. What is the difference between the 001/002r? My only concerns are speed, performance and track count.....

Hey Zach,
Check out the NEC 17" flatscreen at www.newegg.com for 442.00. You can also get a similar screen from Best Buy and Circuit City. These things are amazing.

Hey thanks man... I'm the Zach youve been trading emails with.. Seriously, you are incredible, you need to be paid by Digidesign or something... I am probably gonna buy the system you suggested, my P4 2.6 Ghz has been giving me problems, plus I need a dedicated computer for my music production.. Ill probably hit you up with questions in the future. Thanks again Allen, cant stress it enough...

No problem Zach. Just make sure you get good hard drives and avoid the ones that are slowing down our systems here. So far that seems to be Maxtor and Seagate drives. Stick with WD and Hitachi SATA 8MB cache drives and you will do fine. Or get those WD Raptor drives.

Hey guys,

I agree, I have a pair of 17" NEC LCD 1760V's and I love 'em. You didn't specify lcd, but I assume that's what you meant. If you can afford 19's, I'd recommend it.

Unfortunately they didn't test the new NEC 1760V series. I have yet to find an LCD that compares to it.

Their tests do seem to be a little dated sometimes. I'm looking for a good 19" and the three Toms' recomends are impossible to find. I sent them a note asking them to update the 19" reviews.

Got any suggestions on a good 19?

John

I thought the 1760's where old, I've had 'em almost a year. Dyin' to get 19's, or better yet, a couple of lcd 16X9 tv's!! (better check my lottery tickets)

If yah gots money da burn, somewhere here there's a post about monitor arrays, veddy veddy nice!! I'm salivating just thinking about them.

I Like that top right monitor on the toms site, reminds me of the Jetsons!! I wonder what ever happened to Judy? She was hot ... for a cartoon!! (hmmm, I smell a hottest cartoon babe post comin' on)

Hey Terry,

Is this what you're talking about? Scroll down the page to see all the configurations possible, then click on a configuration to be taken to the pricing page for that configuration. Largest and most expensive monitors for each particular array are on the right hand side.

There's also these guys and even Viewsonic is getting in the act with stands for two, three and even four monitors. And yeah, all you need is money - and desktop real estate.

The new computer workstation I bought only allows me a monitor about 22 or 23 inches wide. I'm holding out for the new 16:9 aspect LCD computer monitors, then I'll take the plunge.

Cheers,
