Default 5.1 multichannel split to mono

I'm curious if anyone knows why the Lfe channel gets routed to the center channel as opposed to the Lfe when a 5.1 6Track is split out to mono. Or maybe a workflow situation that I'm not thinking of.

This has bitten me two times now as splitting into mono is not a part of my normal routine...and I'm being reminded of it for 1hr and 33 minutes.

Can this be fixed (or more politically correct, "can this current feature be changed?")

Hey Doug. Can you explain exactly what you mean by "split out to mono?" I don't quite follow your question.

Does the original 5.1 track need to be assigned to a 5.1 bus or output before the split-mono tracks are correctly assigned to the individual channel components of the 5.1 bus/output?

I have encountered the same issue. Even when the output of the 5.1 track is assigned to a 5.1 interface or bus output with corresponding mono sub-paths created in I/O setups, the LFE always gets routed to center when splitting to mono. Can't find any workaround for this one either.

"split into mono" is a feature you get to by selecting TRACK in the top menu and then "split into mono". it is also selected by right clicking any multichannel track."

In the case of a 5.1 multichannel track, it correctly pans/assigns all tracks to their correct locations except for the Lfe, in which it sends to Center. I understand that the Lfe does not follow the panning scheme of all other elements, but it would be great if the Lfe fader was set to nominal on that track.

The 5.1 buss(es) are already created, it's not an issue of that.

What version are you using? I just did this today and all 6-parts split out correctly. This was on 7.4.2 on Mac Leopard.

hi eric,
Currently pt8, but i remember it doing it to me on 7.4.2 and I had one of the editors check on 7.4.2 and it did that as well.

so when you split out 6TK, your Lfe channel had the Lfe fader up at nominal with the main fader down?

I think I remember that this is related to your default I/O assignments in the I/O Setup page
