Help.Mbox/laptop quandry.

I used to own an 001 but now I need to buy a laptop for school and I will get an Mbox to go with it. My wife can get a deal on Compaq or Hp through work but I don't see that Digi will support them. Is it true that this prodct will only work with the suggested laptops?

It makes for an awfully narrow window of choice.

Any help will be great as well as feedback on the mbox.

I'm currently using the MBox with an old Compaq Presario 900 series with no problems. Theres a thread in this forum called "Best laptop for Pro Tools" that I think will help you out. I just ordered a new laptop from Compaq which should be here within the next week and will be posting the results of the davec test with the MBox. So if you want to wait a week or so I can give you a definite answer as to the compatibility of the new Compaq laptops with PT. I was gonna go with another laptop but I figuerd for the price(900.00 after rebate) I'd give the Compaq a try, besides Compaq has a great return policy so there isn't a whole lot of risk.

I use mbox with a hp ze4100 laptop and it works great.
