This may or may not solve your problem. I'd highly recommend updating your system to Windows XP SP3. The updates are free from the Microsoft website. I was having issues installing PT 8 on my new Lenovo laptops which traditionally run PT w/o issue. I installed XP SP3, ALL of the updates from the MS (some more patches were released after SP3), and updated my drivers, PACE drivers, etc.

After I installed ALL updates, PT ran flawlessly. DO NOT install Microsoft Internet Explorer 8!

Like I said, it may or may not solve your problem! XP SP3 contains with it many important updates. You can easily click on GO TO THE MICROSOFT AUTOMATIC UPDATES website on the SECURITY area on your CONTROL PANEL. This will take you directly to the UPDATES website and tell you which updates are ready for your particular computer.

Good luck!

The menubox executable file can be run either with command like options, or from directory containing a configuration file (e.g. menubox.ini), or from the root of a medium containing an autorun.inf file which references a menubox configuration file. for additional information please refer to the software documentation, or to the menubox home page at www.menubox.com
File: C:\documents and settings\daniel\desktop\pro tools\setup.ini
Error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Thats the errror message when i try to install from my harddrive

I also had a problem with my installer DVD:

http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=259056

I contacted Digi through the Avid support page. They got back to me in one day with a link to download the installer. 3.5 gigs of data downloading later...worked fine.
