Default No sound for final cut express?

Hi guys...Im running final cut express on my machine. And Im not getting any audio out of it. I can see the audio levels moving on the screen so I know some sound is there but I cant figure out where to access it. I figure it has something to do with the digi audiocore manager...thats why Im asking here.

You can plug headphones into the computer's headphone output and work from there.

If you want to use Digidesign hardware you need to tell the software to look for it. There is a preference you need to set telling FCE to use the Digidesign hardware - where it is, off hand I don't know, but look around the menus and you'll find it.

If you are seeing this while capturing you can only monitor Final Cut audio from the firewire device you are capturing from--it's not a ProTools issue. On timeline playback set your view to canvas not firewire.

In FCP there is an option under i think....the edit menu, where all the firewire output devices are listed near the bottom. FCE doesn't have this menu, in which case if setting the core audio device as the default audio for the OS doesn't work then it's possible this feature may not be supported.

Cheers

Could you or someone else clarify what one has to do to get Final Cut Express to work with an MBOX II Pro?

I see posts all over the net from people who can't get audio out of FCE via Digi hardware. I'm thinking of gettin FCE 4 but have an MBOX II Pro and will avoid it if you can't get audio through my system...

Thanks
Tom
