For Vi users, with all the gazillion VI's out there, I doubt we are going to get timely updates from every VI dev to provide proper naming to a new drum grid feature lol, so it would be essential to know what each sound is.
I know many folks might want a drum grid, but I'd also just take note renaming as a separate feature. It would just help a lot with editing today.

Give me a way to rename what I use and I am set, I don't need to wait on any plugin vendor. When that comes is icing on the cake.

Ok I'll admit the plugins are looking exciting and enough for me to instantly re sub when it's out.

Once they add a drum editor, I'll be in PT Heaven and will not need any other feature, ever really.

While we're asking...

Still think it's astonishing that in PT you cannot control a midi CC via EuCon. That sure needs addressing. Since forever the only daw that can do this is Cubase, via their Quick Controls.

So bizarre that Avid hardware, Avid software connected via an Avid protocol has less functionality than with third party software.

I'd personally take this feature over all of the lovely looking new midi effects (not that I'm complaining about them). The day Avid did this is the day I seriously consider retiring Cubase.

Having used Pro Tools for 20 years now, it might be hard to believe, but there have been many improvements in MIDI. It was understandably a lower priority than audio of course.

One thing I do miss from Cubase, even back in 2003, is the Logical Editor.

good call.

Still, as I said, PT midi is not as bad as people make it to be, cause the workflow is designed well including in place editing. It just needs some features that are missing.

I am going to re sub now, as I am happy avid are doing something about it and would rather support them than wait for it to come out, just to "do my bit".

Nah, I'll let them do 'their bit' first..

You may have to re sub quite a few times more before you get something worthwhile out of it again, with all initial bugs solved. They're not particularly fast at that usually.

I understand. I am doing it more because I like to say "I support you and thanks for doing this".

Plus

Who knows with them if they'll decide in a month to stop allowing owners of perpetual licenses from re subbing without penalty again.

Pro tools is my favourite DAW of all time and I have used them all, and spent 2 decades with logic as well.

I can't understand so much online hate and I just think "you're missing out".

I think the incredibly intuitive GUI has a lot to do with it for me, and the streamlined super clean mixer.

One of the big things for me still to this day is being able to level out clip volume without chopping the clip. Even now in Cubase 13 you can still only do these weird ramps, it's awful vs Pro Tools. I love click drag highlight then up down. Boom.

And so many other things
